Larry and Angela Ficken, first meet in 1983 at the University of Missouri (Columbia) - Go MIZ-ZOU!

Larry (youngest of 6 children) grew up on a mid Missouri diversified family farm. Larry's first show calf was a Polled Herford Heifer, then later included Steers and then switched to Angus cattle in the 1980's. Selling his first Angus Bull in August 1984. Angela was born in Detroit, MI. then moved to PA. and then to Chesterfield, MO.

We took a break from raising Angus cattle while pursuing our academic careers at MIZ-ZOU, where Larry was on the Meat Judging Team and Live Animal Evaluation Team. Larry also worked for Dr. Vehm as TA for Swine Nutrition 212. After college, jobs took us to KS, MO, TX, IA, and to CA.  Today, Ficken Angus Ranch is located in central CA., using artificial insemination and embryo transfer to acccelerate the latest genetics.

In addition to raising Angus cattle, Larry and Angela work in off-the-ranch careers every day. Larry's past management experiences has involved Finacial Planning, Insurance Sales, Beef Processing, Soy Oil Refining, Ethanol, Bio Diesel, Feed Manufacturing and Cheese Production. Angela is a Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant for Commerce Home Mortgage, Visalia, CA.
